North Korea is set to reopen its tourist routes, German news portal T-Online reports. First, visitors will enter the iconic city of Samjijon in the northeast of the country. This is what representatives of local travel agencies say, and according to them, trips will be possible again from December, the Beijing office of Koryo Tours states on its website.
And BBC television recalls that the closure of the borders had an impact on the country’s economy because it cut off the regime of imported basic goods, which led to food shortages. The difficult situation was intensified by international sanctions triggered by Kim Jong Un’s nuclear ambitions.
Not only will the city in question be opened, but also the rest of the country.
Another agency, CTG Tours, also confirms that Samjijon will be available to tourists from winter onwards.
