Brazilian football star Neymar will play for FC Schalke 04 for 10 games? For a moment on Platform X on Friday morning, it sounded pretty outrageous. And it was. Moments later, the second division team deleted the club tweet from their X account.
“It is true that there was another irregularity. “This was immediately removed,” a Schalke spokesman said in response to a request from dpa, confirming that the club’s account had been hacked for the second time in a few days. Neymar, who is under contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, does not come to the Ruhr area.
The cause is being investigated.
A few mysterious posts about the Schalke account have already been published on Tuesday evening X. “Sorry guys, now we have a problem too. #Hacker,” the club announced. One post read: “Big news in the crypto world! What do you think about it? Check out the following tweet!” The club then allegedly announced a new partnership in the crypto world.
According to their own statement, the Royal Blues do not yet know who is behind this false news or why they were targeted. “The analysis has been ongoing since Tuesday and we are in contact with the platform and all relevant internal and external interfaces,” a spokesperson explained hours before the match at Karlsruher SC. “We can only speculate as to why our account was targeted. The club has high security standards.”
