In the automotive world recently, modernizations or new generations often cause heart palpitations among fans of a particular brand or model. Well, now it is as if new does not always mean better. New often means more complicated, intricate, with worse service and a lot of useless additions that only make the daily use of the car more difficult. More and more often, ideas appear in cars that make the new ones “worse” in many ways than their predecessors. This is due to new regulations that are not always necessary, the race for modernity and cost reduction by manufacturers. Fortunately, there is also a more normal world that is not burdened with the above inconveniences. And so we come to the fourth generation of the Skoda Octavia, which is approximately halfway through its career on the market. On this occasion, it has just undergone a facelift. There are many changes and practically all of them make the Octavia an even better car.
Skoda Octavia
It’s been almost five years since the current generation of the Skoda Octavia hit showrooms. The Czech liftback (or station wagon version) is still popular with customers, especially when it comes to fleet purchases. Perhaps that’s why the most popular colors for this model are the so-called cautionary colors, that is, those that won’t cause problems upon resale and won’t cause additional complaints from customers. These include black (chosen by 19 percent of customers), silver (13.9 percent) and gray (13.4 percent). Most customers opt for a 2-liter diesel engine with 150 hp (22.0 percent). Interestingly, number two is a 1.5-liter 150 hp gasoline engine, but with a manual gearbox. Poles love Octavia. We are the second largest market in the world for the hatchback and the third for the station wagon.
Skoda Octavia
The news about the Octavia facelift should please everyone who owns cars from the company. Your next copy will be fully modernized. What’s changed? On the outside, the front fascia has been redesigned in particular. There are new bumpers, revised headlights that now connect to the grille in a different way, and a new LED light signature. The change in the exterior lights has more than just aesthetic value. The new lamps can be Matrix LED headlights with 36 diodes, available for an additional fee (the predecessor had 12 fewer), ensuring excellent lighting range and illumination of both the road and the shoulders. There is also a new rear bumper, a slightly changed arrangement of lights and a large lettering on the tailgate – Skoda. In general, the stylists did not spoil anything, and I think this is the most important thing. And yes, in the right configuration, the new Octavia can be attractive.
