“We want water through the network in Colonia Viento Nuevo” is one of the slogans of Ecatepec residents who blocked six lanes of the Federal Highway Lechería Texcoco, near San Isidro Atlautenco.

Dissatisfied residents reported that for a month they had not received liquid service in their homes and only received it through pipes, but the amount was insufficient.

They asked the Water, Sewerage and Sanitation Service (Sapase Ecatepec) to immediately restore the service.

María Esther Valdivia, from the Viento Nuevo neighborhood, explained that they were told that there was a problem with the hydraulic network and that the service would be restored soon; however, they have not provided a solution for four weeks.

He said that because the pipes owned by the city council were not sufficient, they had to buy them from individuals at prices ranging from 200 to 300 pesos for a 500-liter drum.

He asked Sapase to stop profiting from the liquid because it was suspected of distributing it to private companies.
