The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, authorized, this Wednesday (18), the use of the National Public Security Forces, for 90 days, in municipalities in six states to combat forest fires. In Amazonas, the municipalities of Apuí, Boca do Acre, Humaitá, Lábrea, Manicoré and Novo Aripuanã will be staffed.
In addition to Amazonas, the National Guard will be deployed in cities in the states of Pará, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Roraima and Acre. The decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU).
The text explains that National Forces professionals will collaborate with public security and social defense agencies in the six states and the Union, as well as with public bodies and entities responsible for protecting the environment in those locations.
In particular, the judicial police and the technical-scientific police personnel of the National Public Security Forces will act to support the state civil police and the Federal Police in investigating and eradicating the causes of fires caused by human action.
The cities that will rely on the use of National Troops are:
· Amazonas: Apuí, Boca do Acre, Humaitá, Lábrea, Manicoré and Novo Aripuanã;
· Pará: Altamira, Itaituba, Jacareacanga, Novo Progresso, Ourilândia do Norte and São Félix do Xingu;
· Rondônia: Candeias do Jamari, Nova Mamoré and Porto Velho;
· Mato Grosso: Aripuan, Colniza and Nova Maringá;
· Roraima: Caracarai;
· Acre: Feijo.
The number of agents will still be determined by the National Secretariat of Public Security, Ministry of Law and Public Security.
