The Federal District Metropolitan Company (Metrô-DF) app now has an area where users can report the loss of an object or document on trains and stations. Agency employees will use the space to register the items found.
Once the user reports the item missing, an employee will search the system to see if there are any registered items with similar characteristics. The passenger will then be notified with a positive or negative response.
After receiving the notification, passengers can go to the Lost and Found Office, at Galeria Station, and collect their belongings. You must show a civil identity document and prove that you are the owner of the belongings.
Metrô-DF estimates that, currently, around eight thousand objects and documents pass through the Lost and Found Office. Items can be kept by the Company for up to 180 days. After that, they are sent to be donated or recycled.
“This is a great facilitator that we are providing to our users because they will be able to relate more easily to the Post and we will cross-reference the objects that we have. Our main objective is to return people’s belongings,” said Maria de Lourdes Galvão, the metro station in charge of the station since it began operating.

Metrô-DF wants to increase the number of downloads of the application available for Android and iOS. The application has been downloaded by 60 thousand people, but the Company estimates that only 11% are loyal users.
