For a company that’s supposedly “stepped away” from the smartphone business, Meizu has certainly been launching a lot of smartphones in recent days. Earlier today, we talked about the new Note 21 series even going international, and the company also announced a new device that’s apparently part of the new series.
The company is advertising the Meizu Lucky 08 smartphone as a “flagship AI phone” for September 25. It will cost CNY 2,000, which is currently equivalent to about $280 or €255 – so it can’t be a true flagship at that price.
It does look intriguing, though, as you can see in the teaser video above. It appears to have two cameras on the back, housed in a very distinctive circular camera island.
Meizu has launched a reservation service for CNY 1. Paying that measly sum will reserve you a spot in line to buy the phone when it launches, and you’ll also get a chance to drive the Meizu x Lynk & Co Z10 E-sports Customized Edition EV, as well as exclusive trade-in subsidies.
No details about Lucky 08 are known at this time, but it is worth remembering that 8 is the luckiest number in Chinese culture, so the name is most apt.
