Questioned at length by Antoine Camus, one of the lawyers for the legal parties, about two naked photographs found on her daughter’s hard drive, the seventy-year-old woman mechanically replied several times, “I have never touched my daughter.” She denied being the author of a photograph in which 45-year-old Caroline Darian appeared naked and lying in a “half-fetal” position on the bed, reminiscent of the drugging and later rape of her ex-wife Gisèle Pelicot. It was discovered by dozens of strangers between 2011 and 2020. “No, it’s not me. This photograph lying on the bed, it’s not me,” she said, arousing the anger of her daughter, who was sitting next to her mother. She was in the room but directly opposite him: “You’re lying,” she told him twice.

A moment ago, she had left the room with a determined step, saying, “I’m going to throw up here.” Dominique Pelicot, who seemed disturbed by the lawyers for the legal parties reminding her of the incestuous nature of her daughter’s private photographs, said, “My daughter, she is like my grandchildren, they are jewels, we don’t touch them.” But her daughters-in-law also said, “What should I do, what should I say, what should I cut off my arm?” When asked why she did not take photographs of her two sons, she told the judges of the Vaucluse criminal court: “I don’t like men.”
“He says what he thinks”
Since the truth came to light in 2020, Caroline Darian (Editor’s note: the pseudonym under which she published a book in April called “And I stopped calling you dad”) believes that she was sexually assaulted by her father and even by strangers. , using the same procedure that he used on his own wife, dousing her with anxiolytics before raping her, and having dozens of strangers recruited on the Internet rape her. Since then, she has become a figure in the fight against chemical substances. When asked about the shocking statement of Caroline Darian, who called the man she now calls “Mr. Pelicot” or his “ancestor” “one of the biggest sex offenders of the last 20 years” at her hearing on September 5, she did not want to talk: “He says what he thinks, he could be right or wrong I am in a bad place.”

At the beginning of the trial, she left the courtroom in tears when the presiding judge reported the photomontages in which Caroline Darian appeared naked. The photos were found on her father’s computer in a folder titled “Naked next to my daughter”. “When pushed against the wall, it only conveys part of the truth”, she accused. An aspect that Camus recalled when he told Dominique Pelicot about the possible sexual assault of Caroline Darian: “It’s shameful, there is no evidence. It’s all your daughter’s drama.”
