New Delhi:
Designer-actress Masaba Gupta spoke in a recent interview about being bullied at school because of her mother Neena Gupta’s relationship with West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards. Masaba, in an interview with Faye D’Souza, said that she was invited to the school because Neena’s relationship with Vivi was public. “When she was pregnant with me, she didn’t have her mother around, her father was against it because it was out of wedlock. My dad, Viv Richards, wasn’t around, and friends were around, but it wasn’t the same, everyone had their own lives. She couldn’t tell people that she was pregnant with me, so she had to hide her pregnancy. He had no money. When I asked her how she coped with all this, she simply said: ‘I was very happy to have my own child. I had no idea how to raise you.”
He also said: “It was used against me 100 per cent, it was public and it was very interesting because the kids were talking about it like adults. I heard them repeating something they heard at home. One kid went on to say, “Hey bastard, I think you’re a bastard kid”. This was when I was in 7th grade. A lot of people also didn’t understand what I looked like physically or why I looked like that.
In 2015, Masaba married Indian film producer Madhu Mantena. However, they separated in 2018 and officially divorced in September 2019. In January 2023, she married actor Satyadeep Mishra. The couple announced their pregnancy in April 2024.
