The information was contained in a letter to employees written by Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer, after information about the division of the company’s business in Germany.

– Mark is a rare case: a financial professional with the heart of a publisher – writes Mathias Döpfner.

As of September 2022, Mark Dekan is the chief operating officer (COO) of Axel Springer’s Politico website. He works in Washington. Previously, he was president of Ringier Axel Springer Polska and CEO of Ringier Axel Springer Media AG. He previously served as chief financial officer at RASP AG. He is also associated with Axel Springer as commercial director of finance & services.

As we reported on Thursday, Axel Springer will be divided into two parts: media and advertising. The company that publishes “Bild”, “Welt”, Politico and Business Insider and is one of the owners of RASP will again be completely in the hands of the German owners (Friede Springer and Mathias Döpfner), while the American fund (KKR) will control the more valuable advertising business.
