On Thursday, Onet reported that at the Law and Justice congress in September, party chairman Jarosław Kaczyński “will introduce changes that will grant him lifelong control over the party.” According to information obtained by the portal, Kaczyński intends to create a new body within the group – an “operational council” consisting mostly of younger politicians, which “will be responsible for managing the party’s current affairs.” Mariusz Błaszczak will be the head of this body and Przemysław Czarnek will be his deputy.
“This shows that the president is serious about appointing the ‘board of directors’, but at the same time wants to have control over the activities of the young people,” we read on the website, according to which “the ‘board of directors’ is to report to the ‘general council’, that is, a new body in PiS similar to the company’s supervisory board”. Błaszczak will be a “link” between these bodies, which shows his “unequivocal strengthening” in the party, which in practice means that he will be “number 2” after Kaczyński – according to the cited text.
Who will succeed Jarosław Kaczyński in PiS? President: It would be the most reasonable decision
In a message published on the Radio Maryja website on Friday evening, Kaczyński confirms his March statement about running again for the PiS presidency. “But I am open to other decisions,” he says. “I wanted to resign in 2020. The epidemic came unexpectedly (COVID-19 pandemic – ed.), we did not convene the congress, and a year later I was asked to stay because there was a serious problem in the party at that time. If the president were to change, no one knows what would happen. I believe that the new commission that will be created should include a very experienced person,” says the leader of the largest opposition party.
When asked “is this Mariusz Błaszczak?” the PiS chairman praises the former deputy prime minister, recalling that he has been in the party “since its political infancy, since the youth movement, throughout the entire 30-year history of our party”. – He has held various positions in local government politics, was in the government as deputy prime minister and defence minister. He has party experience – he was head of the parliamentary club – he says.
