A 45-year-old man was stabbed and seriously injured at the front door of his home in Cologne on Saturday night by two unknown assailants. According to police, the attack occurred when the victim rang the doorbell and opened the door. Neighbors alerted rescue workers. The perpetrators, who were wearing dark clothing, reportedly fled in different directions. According to police, there is video footage of them outside the house and it is being evaluated by a homicide squad that has been formed.
The circumstances of the crime are currently unclear; the possible murder weapon has been described as a “sharp object.” The Cologne prosecutor’s office is involved and is expected to make a statement on the status of the investigation on Monday. Homicide investigators are appealing for witnesses.
