A man was arrested Saturday afternoon, 21, after setting fire to a Salvadoran subway car at Access North Station. So far, there is no information on the man’s identity or motivation for the vandalism.

The incident occurred at around 14.00 WIB, there were no fatalities because there were no passengers in the carriage when the fire occurred.

According to CCR Metrô Bahia, the company that manages the mode of transport, the fire was immediately extinguished and the carriage was replaced with another so as not to disrupt operations.

In a statement, the Civil Police said the man was charged with the crime of qualified damage and that surveillance images provided by the dealer would help in the investigation. The suspect has undergone a preliminary examination and is ready to serve Justice.
