One home baker has shared a simple four-ingredient recipe they swear by for perfect brownies—and it even includes a surprising ingredient that keeps the sweet treats moist.
According to Reddit user gorcbor19, there’s also no need for complicated instructions or expensive ingredients.
Sharing the unique formula online, a forum user explained that they first tried the recipe when they realized they already had all the ingredients in their pantry.
The keen baker said: “The consistency doesn’t look like the picture, they’re stickier than that, but they’re super tasty.
“I was surprised because this is the first ‘dessert’ I’ve made since switching to a vegetarian diet late last year. I’ll definitely be making them again!”
However, these are no ordinary brownies. The key chocolate flavor is derived from pure cocoa powder, and sweet potato puree is cleverly used to create a moist texture that literally melts in your mouth.
Speaking with delight about the baking experience, the poster claimed to be “shocked at how good they turned out” due to the simplicity of the recipe.
Some forum members expressed concern about the potential presence of sweet potato flavor, but the original poster assured, “My kids ate them and hate sweet potatoes. I didn’t follow the recipe once, I used too much sweet potato and I could taste it.”
A four-ingredient brownie recipe
Ingredients
Three cups of boiled sweet potatoes, mashed
Three quarters of a cup of cocoa powder
1.5 dl nut butter
Three-quarters cup maple syrup
Method
Making brownie mix is easy in a hurry, as all the ingredients can be combined in the same bowl.
To achieve the smoothest texture, a food processor is recommended, but if the sweet potato is cooked very soft, pureeing by hand is sufficient.
Combine sweet potato puree, peanut butter and maple syrup in a bowl or food processor. If using a bowl, Sift in the cocoa powder and mix thoroughly to thicken the mixture.
Transfer the mixture to a small square baking sheet or baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Aim to remove the brownies while they are still a little gooey on the inside for an irresistible soft texture.
