Maggie Smithwho gained worldwide fame playing Professor Minerva McGonagall in the “Harry Potter” films, has died at the age of 89. This information was confirmed by the actress’s son, Toby Stephens e Chris Larkinthis Friday (27) via information.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dame Maggie Smith. He died peacefully in hospital on the morning of Friday, September 27. As a very private person, in the end he was with friends and family. She leaves behind two loving children and five grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their wonderful mother and grandmother,” the note read.
With over 60 films and an Oscar for Best Actress in 1969, Margaret Natalie “Maggie” Smith was born in Ilford, Essex, England and enjoyed a career in theatre, film and television. In 2001, she first played what would become one of the most famous characters of her career, the Transfiguration teacher and deputy headmistress of Hogwarts, Minerva McGonagall.
In 2008, during the recording of “Enigma do Príncipe”, the fifth film in the saga inspired by the books JK Rowlingshe was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy sessions.
