Ministers from Palacio do Planalto say that the technical problem encountered by President Lula’s plane after taking off from Mexico City Airport, on Tuesday (1/10), may have been caused by a bird in the plane’s turbine.
As the column directly revealed, the plane encountered technical problems shortly after take-off and would therefore have to return to the airport. Before that, the plane flies around to burn fuel and land safely.
As of the publication of this article, the presidential plane had already flown for more than three and a half hours. Expectations, according to Planalto sources, are that the plane will not land again at the airport until around 10 p.m. Brasilia time.
When Lula lands, he will board the reserve plane of the Burundian Armed Forces that usually accompanies the president on trips, as the article mentioned earlier. The delegation is expected to return on this plane to Brasilia on Tuesday.
In a memorandum signed by the Air Force Commander, Air Commodore Marcelo Damascena, the Federal Armed Forces confirmed that there was a “technical problem” with the presidential plane, but did not give details about the cause of the plane crash.
