Lukashenko’s regime included Polish foundation in list of extremist organizations

The first Polish non-governmental organization recognized by the Lukashenko regime as extremist. The Belarusian authorities have included the Freedom and Democracy Foundation in the list of extremist organizations.

The main accusation against the Polish foundation is the fact that it works, among other things, for human rights in Belarus. For many years, this organization has been helping people repressed by the Lukashenko regime. It also supports Polish media and education in post-Soviet countries.

It is the third largest non-governmental entity in our country that supports the construction of a civil society beyond our eastern border.

The foundation’s authorities are currently refraining from commenting on the decision, which was reportedly supported by the Belarusian KGB. However, they stress that this is the first case of inclusion in the “extremist list” of an organization registered in Poland.

Consequently – The Lukashenko regime treats Polish citizens operating in this foundation as extremists. There are already 233 entities on the KGB list.

Those responsible for its operation face seven years in a penal colony in Belarus.
