Following the bombing of a pager in Lebanon, Lufthansa is suspending flights to Tel Aviv and Tehran until Thursday. Air France is no longer operating flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut during the same period.

Lufthansa is immediately suspending all flights between Tel Aviv and the Iranian capital Tehran, citing a short-term change in the security situation, the airline said.

The backdrop is the simultaneous bombings in Lebanon that killed at least nine people and injured more than 2,800. The airline said the suspension would last until September 19.

Air France also announced it was suspending flights to Tel Aviv and the Lebanese capital Beirut during the same period. The French airline also cited the security situation on the ground as justification.

The airspace flies around

Lufthansa also announced that all Lufthansa Group airlines will fly over Israeli and Iranian airspace during this period. Lufthansa continues to closely monitor the situation and will continue to evaluate the situation.

Affected Lufthansa passengers can rebook free of charge to a later travel date or receive a full refund of the ticket price.

Flights not to resume until September

The Lufthansa Group, which includes Eurowings, Austrian Airlines, Swiss Airline and Brussels Airlines, resumed flights to Tel Aviv in early September, having previously been canceled amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
