Love of literature ruined a thief in Rome!

A passion for Greek mythology ruined a burglar who broke into an apartment in Rome. Searching the room, he found a book on the bedside table; he became so interested that he began to read. The reading was interrupted by the police called by the owner of the apartment.

The newspaper “La Repubblica” reported that a 38-year-old thief – a lover of literature – tried to rob an apartment in the center of the Eternal City.

He was so interested in a book by the poet, essayist and mythology expert Giovanni Nucci that was on his dresser that he decided to leaf through it. He lay down on the bed and immersed himself in reading.

And that’s how the police found him; with a book in his hand, lying comfortably on the bed. The police were called by the 71-year-old owner of the apartment, who noticed that someone was there. The intruding reader was arrested. The police took his bag of loot and his book.
