According to FAB, the plane carrying Lula from Mexico to Brazil experienced a technical malfunction after taking off from Mexico City Airport. The Labor Party member headed to the country to attend the inauguration of new President Claudia Sheinbaum.

The presidential plane VC-1 experienced a technical malfunction and, for safety reasons, had to return to Mexico City Airport. But the plane did not land until the fuel burned out.

“After successfully implementing safety measures to solve the problem at hand, the pilots wait for the necessary fuel consumption to return to the same take-off airport, change aircraft and return to Brasilia,” the FAB informed, in the afternoon.
