Live pager explosions in Lebanon: what we know

At least nine people were killed and more than 2,800 people were injured when pagers exploded in various parts of Lebanon on Tuesday afternoon, September 17, according to a report by the Ministry of Health.

Hezbollah, a Lebanese Shiite movement, announced hours later that some of its members equipped with pagers had been injured. Agence France-Presse quoted a source close to Hezbollah as saying, “big number” The victims include members of the pro-Iran movement.

Pagers (Pagers English) are primitive communication devices. Very popular in the 1990s, before the advent of the mobile phone, they allowed you to receive and, in some cases, send short alert messages or texts. Until very recently, they were still widely used in British hospitals. These small devices, powered by batteries or batteries, have a long autonomy.
