Lilian Dejean is buried in Guadeloupe

According to a funeral notice distributed Friday in the archipelago, a ceremony was held “at the Pointe-Noire church at 4 p.m.,” before “burial” in the commune cemetery.

Grenoble Mayor Eric Piolle as well as Guadeloupe sub-prefect Jean-François Moniotte were present, local authorities said.

The family has indicated in the media that they would like Lilian Dejean to rest with her father, who is also buried in Pointe-Noire.

An island he “loved so much”

The victim’s mother and one of his brothers lived in Guadeloupe, an island “the deceased knew and loved very well”, said Romain Ruiz, a lawyer for the Dejean brothers and one of the victim’s children.

If Lilian Dejean was born and lived in France, she often returned to the family estate.

Lilian Dejean is the father of 2 children aged 8 and 21 years and is also raising the first daughter of his first partner, slightly older than his daughter.

A few days before the funeral, Maître Ruiz stated that the family “needs calm and tranquility”, hoping that “this moment is protected and the media does not waste it”.
