– We are going to accelerate, we have 27 thousand employees, 13 distribution centers and advanced work on the 14th center – announced Włodzimierz Wlaźlak, president of Lidl at a meeting with the press during the Karpacz Economic Forum.
The head of the dynamically growing discount chain owned by the German Schwarz group listed Lidl’s current operations in Poland, which include the work of 905 stores and 840 suppliers from Poland, and the total value of goods, materials and services purchased from Polish suppliers reached PLN 23 billion last year. But that’s not the end.
– We will develop at a rate of more than 50 stores per year, which means that we will employ several hundred to a thousand people per year and maintain the position of leader in remuneration in our sector – said Wlaźlak.
Exports will accelerate through Lidl channels
Wlaźlak devoted part of his speech to discussing intra-chain exports, i.e. how Lidl Poland helps to send Polish products to the headquarters and foreign branches. Lidl is also rapidly developing this plan; the value of this trade has increased significantly in recent years, from PLN 3.6 billion to PLN 6.5 billion last year. Last year, 300 suppliers sent their products through Lidl channels to 28 foreign markets.
