Two popular supermarkets have recalled products that could cause health problems for some people who eat them because of undisclosed allergens in the products.
Lidl Northern Ireland has recalled its Deluxe Chicken and Vegetable soup because it may contain gluten and wheat products, which could be dangerous for people with celiac disease or wheat allergies.
A statement from the Food Standards Agency (FDA) said: “Due to a packaging error, the soup has been packaged in the wrong Sweet Potato & Chicken Soup container with the correct Chicken and Vegetable Soup lid.
“This means that the product is a potential health risk for anyone with celiac disease and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley, wheat or gluten.”
If you have purchased this product, you can return it to the store where you purchased it.
Another product has also been recalled from Icelandic supermarkets because it may contain milk that is not stated on the label.
Iceland 2 Vegetable Balti Bakes may contain milk, which can be a problem for people who are allergic to dairy products.
“If you have bought the above product and you have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk ingredients, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.”
The Financial Conduct Authority sends out regular alerts when there is a problem with a food product that requires it to be taken off the shelf or recalled, asking customers to return it.
