Lewandowski’s spectacle! Two goals from the Pole gave Barça the win

Barcelona players kicked off the new La Liga season with a 2-1 away win over Valencia. Two goals were scored by Robert Lewandowski, who played the entire match.

The guests had a clear advantage in possession from the start (65 to 35 percent). Initially, however, they created few clear-cut chances. Valencia scored a goal before the break. Hugo Duro took advantage of a long pass and headed past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Barcelona’s response was immediate. In injury time, Robert Lewandowski, after receiving the ball in the penalty area from Lamine Yamal, put his foot down and sent it into the net.

Just minutes after the restart, Lewandowski scored for the second time, making it the perfect result. The Polish striker perfectly hit the top right corner of the goal from the penalty spot, which was taken by Raphinha.

The official debut of Flick

Hansi Flick made his debut at the Mestalla Stadium. The former Germany national team coach took over as Blaugrana coach on 29 May from Xavi Hernández. Flick is the third German coach in the club’s history. Hennes Weisweiler and Udo Lattek served in this position before him.

The German coach and Lewandowski know each other very well since the days when the Polish captain was a Bayern Munich player and Flick was the Bavarians’ coach.

National champions Real Madrid will host Real Valladolid on Sunday.
