Legia won 3-2 in Copenhagen a week ago. In the rematch, despite the poor performance, they managed to draw 1-1 and thus advanced to the 4th round of the Conference League qualifiers.
Feio has “caused problems” in the past
Kacper Tobiasz was the hero of the game. If it weren’t for the Legia goalkeeper, the team from Łazienkowskie would have said goodbye to the European cups.
Unfortunately, the match also had its anti-hero. It was the Legionnaires’ coach. Gonçalo Feio is known for having an explosive character and for being unable to control his emotions and keep his nerves under control.
These are not the first excesses with his participation in the past, among others: as coach of Motor Lublin, he threw a tray of documents at the club president.
Middle fingers and the “Kozakiewicz gesture” performed by Feio
Now his hyperactivity made itself felt during the match against Brondby. After the match, Feio entered the field and made outrageous gestures towards the stands occupied by fans of the Danish team.
Feio showed the Broendby fans two middle fingers for the first time and ended his “performance” with the “Kozakiewicz gesture”.
Coach Broendby claims Feio broke the rules
The Legia coach wanted the match. He could not count on our team and players to react differently. Gonçalo Feio turned to our bench and said: “Go home”. I respect Legia and its history, but I do not think this is normal behaviour. In my opinion, he expected this reaction from our players. He broke certain norms and we had to react to that. – said Broendby coach Jesper Soerensen at a press conference.
According to Feio, the Danes are to blame
What does Feio think about all this? I have a badge and it is easy to criticize me. No one talks about the behavior of our opponents who provoked us. We behave with class, as long as others respect us. Our rivals are crying because they were eliminated. The players and staff of Brondby behaved provocatively in Copenhagen. When you are walking down the street and someone attacks you, you have to defend yourself. In modern football, the fight is over huge amounts of money and a lot of strange behavior occurs. We will not be humiliated by anyone. – emphasized the guardian of the Legia players.
Already in Copenhagen, the Danes behaved inappropriately towards us. We did not start. I will not be a victim. And after the game I sent them home according to the sporting result. – added the Portuguese.
Drita is Legia’s next rival
On Thursday 22 August, Legia will play the first leg of the fourth qualifying round of the Conference League. The rematch will take place a week later.
Her rival will be Drita Gnjilane. In Pristina, the Kosovo club beat Auda Riga 3-1 after extra time and won the aggregate 3-2.
