Tensions between Israel and the Shiite Hezbollah militia continue to escalate. An incident in Lebanon in which hundreds of portable radio receivers were believed to have been detonated simultaneously has left some 2,750 people injured and nine dead. In the capital Beirut, Lebanon’s acting health minister Firas Abyad said about 200 of the injured were in critical condition. Hezbollah blamed Israel for the so-called simultaneous explosions of the pagers and vowed to retaliate for the “sinful aggression.”
