FCK goalkeeper Julian Krahl made a brilliant save from close range. At the other end, Ragnar Ache was even better, tapping in Erik Wekesser’s cross in the 33rd minute to give Kaiserslautern a 1-0 halftime lead.
After the restart, it was FCK who attacked again. Following Aaron Opoku’s assist, Richmond Tachie scored to make it 2-0 in the 50th minute. But HSV came back into the game. Glatzel capitalized on Krahl’s mistake after a corner to make it 1-2 (59′). Five minutes later Ache should have made it 3-1, but his shot went wide. In the final stages, Hamburg tried hard to equalize. In added time, Krahl was able to parry a shot from Jean-Luc Dompé. In the fifth minute of stoppage time, it was Selke who headed in Karabec’s cross to make it 2-2, much to Hamburg’s celebrations.
