The 70th National Film Awards have been announced. And, there is good news KGF 2 and Cantara fans. Cantara has won the award for Best Wholesome Entertainment Film KGF 2 has dominated the following categories – Best Kannada Film and Best Action Direction. Cantara it is written, directed and edited by Rishab Shetty and stars Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty and Prakash Thuminad. The exciting thing is that the makers are also planning a prequel to the film. Secondly KGF 2 is the second installment of the series KGF series. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the project features Yash along with Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon.
Also, Sooraj Barjatya has won the best director award Uunchaiand Neena Gupta has earned Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film. Uunchai tells the heartwarming story of three elderly friends who embark on a trek to Everest Base Camp to fulfill their friend Bhupen’s last wish. Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher and Boman Irani are also part of the project.
The list of the best films in the region chosen by the jury has also been published. Among the winners, e.g. Kartikeya 2 has been nominated as the best Telugu film Ponniyin Selvan – Part 1 to win the title of Best Tamil Film. Best Punjabi Film award goes Baaghi Di Dheeand Daman has been recognized as the best Odia film. In Malayalam cinema Saudi Debt CC.225/2009 has been awarded as the best film, and the honor belongs to the Marathi language Vaalvi.
The jury for the 70th National Film Awards was presided over by respected personalities of Indian cinema. Director Rahul Rawail presided over the film jury, while director-producer Nila Madhab Panda presided over the non-feature film jury. Senior journalist and film historian Gangadhar Mudalair took on the role of Chairman of the Best Film Awards Committee.
