Katarzyna Niewiadoma achieved success in her life by winning the Tour de France cycling race. In the last, eighth stage, with the finish line in Alpe d’Huez, after a great fight, she defended the yellow jersey of the leader, which she won on Thursday.
The stage was won by her most dangerous rival, the Dutch Demi Vollering, ahead of her escape partner, her compatriot Pauliena Rooijakkers.
Niewiadoma finished fourth, overtaken by Frenchwoman Evita Muzic in the final metres. The Pole lost a minute and a second to Vollering on Sunday but maintained a four-second lead in the overall standings.
