Karolina Pęk with gold in Paris. This is her third medal

Karolina Pęk won the gold medal at the Paris Paralympic Games in table tennis. In the singles final of the WS9 category, she defeated China’s Guiyan Hiong 3:2 (11:7, 2:11, 4:11, 13:11, 11:8).

In the deciding set, the Pole was already losing 4:7 to take the lead 9:7. Pęk used the first ball of the game and… started to cry.

The whites and reds won eight table tennis medals in Paris, including four golds.

This is Pęk’s third medal in the French capital. Earlier, she picked up two brown – with Piotr Grudzień in mixed doubles (XD17) and with Natalia Partyka in doubles (WD20).

The Polish team has so far won 23 medals in Paris: eight gold, six silver and nine bronze, and has moved up to 14th place in the country’s ranking.
