Malaika Arora’s father Anil Mehta died by suicide on Wednesday morning. Later in the day, Kareena Kapoor visited her close friend Malaika in her Mumbai. According to an India Today report, Kareena has postponed all her work commitments to the next few days. The actor was said to perform at Lido Cinemas on Juhu Tara Road on Thursday, but his team decided to postpone the event due to the tragedy. Malaika and her sister Amrita Arora have been Kareena’s friends for a long time. The trio and Kareena’s sister Karisma Kapoor are often seen together at gatherings.
Malaika’s father Anil Mehta allegedly jumped to his death from his flat in Mumbai’s Bandra. The incident happened on September 11 at around 9 a.m. Police contacted the media outside Malaika’s parents’ home and confirmed that Malaika died by suicide. DCP Crime Branch, Raj Tilak Roshan said, “The body of one Anil Mehta (62) was found. He lived on the 6th floor. We are conducting further investigations and our team is here. We are investigating all angles in detail. Our team’s Forensic teams are also here. We are investigating everything in detail, it seems to be suicide.
After her father’s death, Malaika Arora issued a statement on behalf of her family. The actor wrote on Instagram, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock at this loss. We kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding.” , your support and respect.”
Kareena Kapoor is currently awaiting the release of her film The Buckingham Murders. It opens in theaters on September 13.
