Jr NTR’s film gets U/A certificate from CBFC, orders 4 key changes

New Delhi:

The much-awaited film Devara: Part 1 has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), according to Bollywood Hungama. Directed by Kortala Siva, the film stars Jr NTR along with Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan making their Telugu debut and is slated to release on September 27. Following CBFC guidelines, the makers made four key changes.

Three involved toning down violent scenes: a character kicking his wife was changed, a scene where another kicks his mother was changed, and a five-second shot of a corpse hanging from a sword was removed entirely. The fourth change was for the scene where Jr NTR rides a shark; The CBFC demanded a ticker to clarify that the shark was CGI-generated.

With these adjustments, the film was cleared for release. Available in its original Telugu language and dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, Devara: Part 1 tells a saga of intergenerational friendship and betrayal set in the forgotten coastal lands.

Devara also stars Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Prakash Raj, Srikanth and Shine Tom Chacko. Produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts, the film has cinematography by Rathnavelu ISC, production designer Sabu Cyril and editing by Sreekar Prasad.
