The meteorological phenomenon “John” was downgraded to tropical storm this morning in the center of Guerrero, after last night impacting as a category 3 hurricane on the coast of that entity.
At 3 a.m., “John” was located 45 km north-northwest of Acapulco, and 70 km east-northeast of Técpan de Galeana, the National Meteorological Service reported.
This will produce occasional exceptional rain (over 250 mm) in Guerrero and Oaxaca; occasional heavy rain (150 to 250 mm) in Veracruz and Chiapas, and occasional heavy rain (75 to 150 mm) in Michoacán and Puebla. Additionally, a tropical storm cloud band will enhance the chance of occasional heavy rain in the central part of the country, including the Valley of Mexico.
