On Sunday, a special screening of the documentaries was held at the Excel Entertainment office in Khar, Mumbai.

The screening offered a first look at Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming documentary exploring the influential partnership between writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar.

In a chat with ANI, Zoya shared her admiration for the pioneering work of the couple. “It all started with me because I’ve watched all their movies,” he said.

He explained his fascination with their writing process and his decision to document their legacy for future generations.

Zoya noted Salim-Javed’s significant influence on Indian cinema and particularly highlighted their role in shaping the Angry Young Man character that became iconic in the 1970s.

“It’s not just that they created the Angry Young Man character,” he explained, adding, “It was the combination of their writing and actors like Mr. Bachchan that created something explosive.”

The trailer of Angry Young Men features notables like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shabana Azmi, Farhan Akhtar, Karan Johar and Jaya Bachchan reflecting on the remarkable contribution of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar.

Produced by Salman Khan Films, Excel Media and Entertainment and Tiger Baby, the series is co-produced by Salman Khan along with other well-known parties in the industry. The series premieres on Prime Video India on August 20.

The documentary, directed by Namrata Rao, promises an in-depth look at the influence of the legendary creative couple in the film industry.
