Pizza is one of the most popular and comforting takeaway foods on days when cooking is not in the cards. However, doing it at home can be a lot easier than it seems.
Jamie Oliver has a super easy no-oven pizza recipe for two that will satisfy your cravings in less than ten minutes – and you only need a few common ingredients.
Sharing the recipe on his website, the chef said: “Pizza is a dish we all know and love, but this cheat version breaks all the rules!
“You only need one pan and one hot plate for this, so there’s no need to turn on the oven.
“Plus, it’s not only quicker than your average takeaway, it’s a lot cheaper and contains three of your five a day in just one serving.”
Instructions
Put the flour in a bowl and add a pinch of sea salt. Gradually pour in up to 150 ml of cold water, mixing with a fork until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about a minute and set it aside.
Heat a 30 cm frying pan on medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Peel and slice the onion, remove the seeds and slice the bell pepper and add them to the pan. Season with sea salt and black pepper, cover and cook for two minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.
When the vegetables are cooked, roll out the dough to the size of the pan, making it a little less than ½ cm thick. When the vegetables are cooked, transfer them to a board and put the dough on a dry pan, pressing with your fingertips to form bumps. Cover with a lid and cook for three minutes on one side, then flip it over.
Drain the liquid from the tomatoes, mash them lightly with a fork and spread them over the dough, leaving a 1 cm border. Sprinkle the cooked vegetables on top and grate some cheese over them and let some fall over the edges to form a crispy crust. Reduce the heat to medium, cover and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts and the bottom is crispy.
Shred the outer leaves of the lettuce, slice the stem finely and remove the inner leaves. Cut and peel the carrot into strips, then toss with a tablespoon of red wine vinegar and olive oil and mix. Slide the pizza onto the board, slice and serve with a salad.
