Iranian state television said Iran fired 200 missiles at Israel, including for the first time several hypersonic missiles, during its attack on Tuesday evening. The Revolutionary Guards, Iran’s ideological army, have claimed this “90% of the missiles” king “They reached their goals”.
The Israeli army had previously claimed that Iran had fired about 180 missiles towards its territory, and most of them were intercepted.
In June 2023, Iran unveiled a medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile, called Fattah, capable of traveling at fifteen times the speed of sound. Then-President Ibrahim Al-Raisi stressed that this weapon would strengthen the state “Deterrence force” Iran will bring “Peace and stability for the countries of the region”.
Hypersonic missiles fly at low altitudes in the atmosphere and are maneuverable, making their path difficult to predict and complex to intercept.
