Is Sunday, September 22, 2024 Trading Sunday?
This Sunday in September we will not be shopping in large stores and shopping malls. They will be closed by law, or at least most of them. Sunday, September 22, 2024 is a no-deal Sunday.
What are the restrictions on trading on Sundays?
The trade restrictions result from the applicable Law of 10 January 2018 on restrictions on trade on Sundays, public holidays and other days. According to its provisions, on September 22, 2024, it is prohibited in commercial establishments:
- trade and performance of trade-related activities,
- entrust an employee or worker with work in commerce and activities related to commerce.
Where will we shop on Sunday, September 22, 2024?
This Sunday in September, despite the commercial restrictions, we will do some quick shopping for our needs. From the current ban on Sunday trading Some types of activities are exempt, including:
- gas stations,
- pharmacies and pharmacy outlets,
- mail,
- gastronomy,
- flower shops.
We will also be able to shop at smaller stores and chains. Opening hours may vary. Most of the time, these facilities are open on Sundays and holidays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and sometimes until 8:00 pm.
Will there be a shopping Sunday in September?
In September, the legislator did not provide for shopping Sundays. According to the applicable regulation, in 2024, the ban on Sunday trading will not apply in:
- on the next two Sundays before Christmas Day,
- on the Sunday immediately preceding the first day of Easter,
- the last Sunday of January, April, June and August.

We’ll have to wait until December for the next shopping Sundays. They’ll fall on December 15 and 22 in 2024, of course, assuming there are no changes to the regulations by then.
When will work to change the law begin?
Return business sundays still in question. The calendar of upcoming sessions published on the official website of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland does not include work on the amendment. It should be noted that the amendment involves significant changes, the most important of which concerns increasing the number of trading Sundays to two per month. The restrictions would not apply on the first and third Sundays of each month.
