Ukraine has called on Iran not to equip itself with ballistic missiles for Russia’s war of aggression under any circumstances. If the international media confirms reports that Iran is supplying missiles to Russia for an attack on Ukraine, this will have serious consequences for bilateral relations between Kiev and Tehran, the Foreign Ministry said. According to UN regulations and international law, Russia is an aggressor state.

Nevertheless, there are concerns that Tehran and Moscow are deepening their military cooperation, threatening not only Ukraine but also the security of the whole of Europe, the surrounding region and the world, the Kiev Foreign Ministry said. The Iranian leadership has had to convince through its actions that it does not support the Russian war machine. Kiev has long accused Tehran of supporting Moscow’s war, initially mainly by providing Iran with drones or promoting plans to build unmanned aerial vehicles.

The international community must heed the pressure on Tehran and Moscow to protect international peace and security, the Kyiv Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The Ukrainian people have suffered for more than two years from a war of aggression, with daily Russian terrorist attacks using all kinds of weapons, including those made in Iran.

Iran has denied a report in the Wall Street Journal that it has supplied ballistic missiles to Russia. The Tehran mission to the United Nations in New York said in a press statement that “Iran considers providing military assistance to the warring parties inhumane and will not take any action in this regard.” Such cooperation could also undermine the peace process and escalate the conflict. Tehran also does not want this, the press release said, according to the Mashregh news portal.
