This is an act of vandalism with dramatic consequences. This Wednesday evening in Toulouse, a 2-year-old child was seriously burned while playing in a children’s playground.
The incidents took place shortly after 7pm in Toulouse’s Barrière district, in the cul-de-sac du Séminaire, in Paris. In the early evening, children flock to the park to have fun. Laughter quickly turns to screams and tears. One child burns his hip and buttocks while riding a small carousel.
The parents initially thought it was an accidental fall, but the truth was much worse. Obviously, someone had spread a large amount of caustic soda on the games. This powder is extremely corrosive. When the emergency services arrived, they tended to the young victim. The little boy was then taken to the emergency room of the children’s hospital in Purpan.
A bottle was found
At the same time, the national police sent a patrol to the area to find as many clues as possible. The teams, who went into action in the evening, easily seized a bottle of “caustic soda” abandoned a few meters away from the park. It was clearly a product purchased from the store right across the street. Was this index manipulated by the defendant?
Samples were taken from the area to find DNA traces. Video surveillance footage will also be analyzed. At this stage, the identity of the perpetrator of this malicious act cannot be determined. While the severity of the injuries to the 2-year-old child and the consequences it will have are awaited, an investigation has been opened by the Toulouse prosecutor’s office.
