Khamenei said in a speech broadcast on Iranian state television, “The fate of this regime will be decided by force and resistance, and they will be led by Hezbollah.” After Nasrallah’s death, Khamenei himself was “moved to a safe place where increased preventive measures were introduced.” Two unnamed Iranian officials told Reuters about this.
Hezbollah confirms the killing of Hassan Nasrallah
Khamenei issued his statement after the Israeli army announced the killing of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Iranian-backed Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah organization. The Israeli army announced that Nasrallah was killed in an attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Hezbollah also confirmed the death of Hassan Nasrallah. The statement said that Nasrallah “joined the ranks of his fellow martyrs… whose march he led for about 30 years.” She stressed that the group will continue to fight against Israel “to support Gaza and Palestine and defend Lebanon and its steadfast and honorable people.”
The Iranian Parliament’s National Security Committee also called for a strong response to Israel’s actions. In many regions of the country, the authorities organized rallies in support of Hezbollah, during which the Jewish state was condemned.
