On Sunday evening, the IMWM issued the highest warning, level three, for thunderstorms in the province’s counties of Lublin, Lubusz, Lower Silesia, Opole and Wieliczka. Most of the country is under a second-degree warning, and in some districts under a first-degree warning.
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management published first Level 3 Storm Warning for Counties: Lublin, Świdnica, Kraśnik, Janowski, Biłograj, Krasnystaw, Zamość, Hrubieszów and Tomaszów, Lublin and Zamość.
In the evening, warnings were also announced for 5 poviats of the Lubusz Voivodeship (counties: Zielona Góra, Zielona Góra, Nowa Sól, Żagań, Żary). Zgorzelec County (Lower Silesian Voivodeship) is also subject to the highest alert level.
IMWM later reported that the entire province of Lower Silesia was placed under a level three warning. In addition, warnings were also announced for selected municipalities in the province. Greater Poland (counties: Leszczyński, Gostyński, Rawicz, Krotoszyński, Ostrowski, Ostrzeszów, Kępiński, Kalisz, Pleszewski, Turek, Kalisz and Leszno) and in the province Opolskie (counties: Namysłowski, Brzeg and Nysa).
Level 3 warnings issued valid until Monday, August 19th at 6:00 pm.
The IMWM advises that “dangerous weather events may occur, causing very extensive damage or damage of catastrophic proportions and threatening lives”. You should be prepared for significant disruptions to your daily operations. Extreme caution is advised and frequent monitoring of news and weather developments is required. They are expected storms, which will be accompanied by heavy rainfall of up to 80 mm in some places and wind gusts of up to 80 km/h, sometimes 90 km/h. Hail locally possible.
The Institute’s meteorologists also issued: forecasts for possible warnings. The highest – third degree – are valid until Tuesday, August 20th, at 7:30 am.
