German national ice hockey player Tim Stutzle was injured shortly before the start of the season in the North American National Hockey League. In a preseason game against the Montreal Canadiens, the forward received a violent and illegal check to the head from opponent Arber Cicaj, lost his helmet and fell to the ground. The 22-year-old got up again and headed to the seat, a gash clearly visible on his nose. But then he stopped playing. The Senators did not provide any details about the possible injury or even the suspension.
The Canadian team will play two more preparatory matches this weekend before the regular season begins next Thursday with a home match against the defending champion Florida Panthers. Stützle is one of Ottawa’s most important players and has been the team’s highest earner since 2023. Last season he scored 18 goals and provided 52 assists.
