Vijay Varma is currently awaiting release IC 814: Capture of Kandahar August 29. The Anubhav Sinha web show is based on the 1999 hijacking of an Indian airliner by Pakistani militants. Now, days ahead of the release, Vijay has shared a series of pictures featuring himself and real-life Captain Sharan. In the picture, the two are sitting in the cockpit. The actor also recalled the time when he met Captain Sharan for the first time. Vijay Varma said, “The real and reel captain Sharan. When I met the captain for the first time.. I was charmed by his pleasant smile and simplicity.. and then I saw the scar on his neck.. I asked him about it.. he simply and politely said, “Oh hijackers ki gun 7 din tak yahi ragatti rahi toh wound ho Gaya tha jo heal Nahi hua”. I froze. He smiled. I knew I was talking to a real life hero. It was a huge honor to portray Captain Devi Sharan on screen. His efforts to save lives in the midst of chaos and fear are truly inspiring! A story of endurance and honor..critical thinking and duty..patience and hope and above all…courage. We salute you, Captain. IC814 streaming on Netflix starting August 29.”

IC 814: Capture of Kandaharwhich is a Netflix limited series also features Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Arvind Swami, Dia Mirza, Patralekhaa, Amrita Puri and Kumud Mishra.
