The story of Charlotte Kahl, the woman who took four days off work and traveled five hours to try a burger from Manchester fast food joint Burgerism, certainly piqued my interest, and living in the city, I knew I just had to give it a go. experiment.
As a vegetarian, I had two options for a burger, Veganed and Veggied, and I chose the latter because even though I might not want meat on my burger, I definitely wanted cheese.
While my boyfriend chose the Cheesed – the very burger that Charlotte traveled from Winchester to try.
When ordering from Deliveroo, the food arrived in less than half an hour, so it was already clear that the outlet certainly fulfilled the “quick” part of fast food, but it remains to be seen how good the hamburger was.
After her odyssey to the Salford Burgerism branch, Charlotte said: “The journey was definitely worth it.
“From the first bite I knew I had found something completely unique and delicious. The steaks were perfectly shredded, the sauce was incredible and the side of chips made the meal a solid 10/10.
“Burgerism really deserves its place as one of the best burger joints in Britain, I will definitely be making the trip again.”
However, we weren’t as smitten as Charlotte. While the veggie burger was nice, it certainly wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, and personally I’d say the standout part of my meal wasn’t the burger, but actually the chips, which were delicious.
And as for the beef burger, my boyfriend had very similar thoughts and disagreed with Charlotte’s claim that the burger was “unique” because it was just two beef patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion on brioche. bun.
Despite the two patties, both burgers were also on the smaller side, although you can pay for an extra two patties if you wish.
In the end, while we’d happily order from Burgerism again, we’re not sure it’s worth the five hours and 200 miles of travel.
