Remember the Crystal Maze? You know the iconic 90s TV game show with host Richard O’Brien?
In the show, contestants participated in mini-games in an effort to win crystals.
Now, fans of the TV show have been able to bring the game to life with The Crystal Maze Live Experience, where you can relive the 90s phenomenon.
There are two locations including London’s Soho and Manchester’s Lower Byrom Street.
We arrived at the London location where we were five people trying to crack the game, but one team can have up to eight players in total.
When you start the 75-minute experience, it feels like you’re on the set of a TV show, how realistically it’s replicated.
All these are naturally against the clock. The more challenges you complete successfully, the more crystals you win and the more time you have in the Crystal Dome.
There were four zones in total, including medieval, industrial, futuristic and Aztec, where we were guided by our very own maze master.
In each area we had to choose a physical, mental, skill or mystery challenge.
Some of the games we participated in were tombstones, emojoy, alien operation, death spikes, king’s table, granny clocks, crossword and global stragegia.
However, the most difficult game of them all was the wobble board in the Aztec area, where we had to move the ball slowly along the labyrinth without falling. Sounds easy, right?
But apparently it’s the hardest game in the maze where players struggle the most.
Each game took about two to three minutes to complete, with some challenges only requiring a single team member or group missions.
In between traveling between the four zones, we had to crawl through a tunnel, go down a slide and climb over a ‘fake river’.
When we reached the finals, we managed to bag 10 crystals, meaning we had one minute and 20 seconds to grab as many gold tokens in The Crystal Dome.
We managed to grab 132 gold tokens, but when you go make sure you don’t pick up those pesky silver tokens that subtracted points from your total.
Overall, the game is a great experience for everyone to enjoy and showcase your competitive side with your friends and family.
Standard tickets for The Crystal Maze from £62, but you must have one adult over 18 per team, which can include any child aged 9-16.
At the same time, 16-18 year olds can play without an adult. Minimum of three tickets per order and must include at least one children’s ticket.
