Michał Szczerba (KO) has filed a notification with the National Prosecutor’s Office about irregularities in the financing of the PiS election campaign. The case concerns the suspicion of illegal use of financial resources of legal entities to conduct election campaigns for candidates and the PiS election commission in the parliamentary elections.
The KO MEP told reporters that the collected materials amounted to 5,000 pages; they are invoices, transfer confirmations, graphic materials that will be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in electronic form.
Szczerba explained that the documents concern the use of funds from the KGHM Polska Miedź Foundation, the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone and the Berm company for last year’s PiS election campaign. As he said, the total amount is PLN 1.2 million.
Szczerba said that one of the documents submitted to the prosecutor’s office is confirmation of the transfer of PLN 238,000 on September 25 last year, which was carried out by the KGHM Polska Miedź Foundation.
These funds were received as a donation by the company Berm, which undertook the election campaign of Jacek Sasin, Elżbieta Witek, Andrzej Śliwka and other PiS candidates.
– he said.
Will Korneluk appoint an investigation team?
He added that he will also provide confirmation of this transfer to the National Electoral Commission. He also expressed hope that the national prosecutor, Dariusz Korneluk, will appoint an investigation team that will deal with the issue of irregularities in PiS’s campaign financing.
There are also materials relating to the financing of the campaign of the Minister of Family Affairs Marlena Maląg, who signed an agreement with the company Berm. The agreement concerned the promotion of the ministry on social media, while PLN 80,000 PLN was spent on promoting Minister Maląg in her constituency.
– emphasized MEP KO.
On Monday, Szczerba provided the National Election Commission with documents relating to the spending of PLN 1.2 million on PiS election devices through companies with which state treasury companies cooperated. He said then that “election devices, including Jacek Sasin’s, were not ordered by the PiS election committee, but by a company that constantly cooperated with KGHM.”
It was financed by the company Berm, which for the last eight years (…) has held a virtual monopoly on organizing various types of events, congresses, etc.
– said MEP KO.
According to Szczerba, such practices – aimed at circumventing campaign financing rules – concerned, among others, Sasin, former deputy head of MAP Andrzej Śliwka, former Speaker of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek and former minister from the Marlena Maląg family.
““A lot of slander”
According to former MAP chief Jacek Sasin, the information presented by Szczerba is “a package of slander” and “dirty slander”, in which the MEP also got “everything possible” wrong.
The entire government has set itself one goal – to destroy the democratic opposition, and the first step is to exert such pressure on the National Electoral Commission to withdraw our electoral subsidy.
– Sasin said on Monday on the X website.
