The perfect omelette is a simple yet delicious treat that is the perfect filling meal when you are short on time.
Jess Moses, a food photographer who shares “food hacks that will change your life” on her TikTok account @freshlysnapped, recently shared her method for making restaurant-style omelets at home.
The easy-to-follow, quick cookery was shared with her £28,900 followers as she explained that “the trick is in the sieve”.
While separating the whites from the yolks isn’t unheard of, the sieve trick is a chef’s secret that can result in a smoother egg dish without the risk of scattered eggshells or unwanted bubbles.
To start cooking, the influencer raises the butter to be melted in a heated pot. Then he breaks the egg into a sieve and shakes it in small, gentle circles.
Pouring the whipped egg whites directly into the pan below, she used her finger and then a fork to carefully rub the last few egg whites through the strainer.
As the second egg is sifted and added to the pan, she stirs the remaining yolk before pouring it into the pan with the whites, tilting the pan to swirl it.
The TikTook foodie adds flavor with halved cherry tomatoes and plenty of salt and pepper before flipping the omelet.
After the last few seconds of heat, he transfers the meal to a plate and slices it to show his followers the finished product.
The foolproof technology has been “liked” more than 114,600 times and shared an impressive 5.5 million times.
One commenter confirmed his culinary prowess, saying: “I work at a three star Michelin and I can attest that this is a perfectly cooked omelette, not overcooked and seasoned perfectly with just tomatoes.”
Another added: “This is a great recipe, my grandma used to make this all the time.”
However, others questioned the need to separate the egg in such a complicated way. One said, “You don’t need the whole procedure, just separate the yolk from the white,” while another said, “Oh, great, now I have to clean something else,” referring to the use of a strainer and pot.
