A terrible tragedy occurred in Hawaii. A young couple drowned there while on vacation. Their one-year-old son was left behind.
A vacation in Hawaii ended badly for a Washington couple: Suddenly an 18-month-old boy no longer had his parents and also lost his unborn sibling.
Couple drowns in Hawaii
According to the New York Post, Ilya (25) and Sophia T. (26) drowned in Maui on Saturday, September 14. First, Sophia was found in the water by rescue workers. She was unresponsive and was brought to shore. Rescuers then went back into the water and found the 25-year-old man on the seabed.
According to the “Gofundme” page, the couple could not be revived. As the New York Post reports, they were pronounced dead on the beach. The 26-year-old was also pregnant. The baby she was carrying also did not survive.

The 18-month-old boy was with his aunt and uncle at the time of the tragedy, according to the Gofundme page. It describes the couple as being active in church. It continues: “We were blessed to have them both in our lives and we now have the wonderful memories and moments we shared with them.”
Money for the funeral is being collected on “Gofundme”. So far, more than 119,000 dollars (about 107,000 euros) have been collected. The rest of the money will be given to the little boy.
