The HMD Fusion was unveiled earlier this month, and it’s available to buy now from HMD itself in Europe. You’ll have to pay €269.99 to get it with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, or €299.99 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The main selling point of this phone is its modular design — it has what are called Fusion Kits, which are swappable shells that can add features like wireless charging, more robust protection, a ring light, and things like that.
HMD is certainly not the first company to try its hand at the modular (or rather, in this case, more modular) game. None of the others have succeeded, which doesn’t bode well for HMD. But maybe this will be the exception to the rule; we’ll have to wait and see.
The first-party Fusion suits will be available between October and December, so for now you’ll just have to buy the phone itself. The HMD Fusion Development Toolkit lets you 3D print your own designs if you’re so inclined.
Apart from all that, the Fusion sports a 6.56-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate (which suggests HMD should have invested in a 120Hz OLED instead of modular), a 108MP main camera, a 50MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W wired charging. It is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset.
